HealthSouth Ludlow Goes Tobacco Free
In keeping with our commitment to promote a healthy environment, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western MA became a tobacco-free campus on September 8, 2009.
Smoking is the single most important preventable cause of premature death and disability in the United States. As a healthcare organization, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western MA is committed to promoting health, wellness and prevention of diseases within the community. HealthSouth is also committed to providing a safe, clean and overall healthy environment for our staff, volunteers, patients and visitors.
A key component of this plan is the commitment of HealthSouth to provide the resources necessary to make this policy successful. As health care professionals, we recognize how challenging it can be to quit.
Smoking Cessation programs were held during the months leading up to the implementation of the tobacco free policy. Smoking cessation classes will continue to be offered to all employees, with nicotine replacement therapy for those who are enrolled in the classes.
CEO Scott Keen commended the tobacco-free team, lead by Jacklyn Stacy RT for their success in transitioning to a tobacco-free campus and the support that was given to employees during the time leading up to and following the September 8th implementation.
