Work Conditioning - Work Conditioning is an organized treatment program utilizing therapeutic exercises and work related activities to recondition workers and facilitate a safe, timely return to work.
The program includes 1 to 1 1/2 hour strengthening program for four weeks, utilizing Nautilus equipment, box lifting stations, and work simulation activities. Patients also receive re-education on proper movement and lifting techniques. Two to three visits per week (visits allowed by insurance)
Work Hardening - The Work Hardening Program focuses on early, safe return to work and reducing the risk for re-injury. Consists of intensive daily sessions of two to four hours for four to eight weeks. Stressing the importance of proper body mechanics, the program includes job simulation, an aerobics component using treadmills, stair climbing machines, and a bicycle ergometer. A stretching program is utilized to promote flexibility and increase the patient's range of motion. Patients are seen three to five times per week (visits allowed by insurance)
Functional Capacity Evaluations - The Functional Capacity Evaluation is a one-time visit testing the individual's physical capacity with controlled parameters. Patients are instructed to do various tasks, resulting in objective findings regarding their ability to do their job. These tasks and examinations vary according to the patient's job description and physical ability. Upon completion of the evaluation, a formal report is composed and forwarded to the appropriate individuals.
