    Walkaide

    What is it?
The Walkaide is a battery operated single channel electrical stimulator used for functional electrical stimulation of the common peroneal nerve

    What does it do?
This system provides for foot clearance through the swing phase of walking, leading to a more efficient, anatomically correct gait cycle.

    How does it work?
Simply put: the device has sensors which measure the speed and incline of your gait pattern and can adjust to changes in step length, speed and foot posturing.

What is the benefit of this device?

    • Requires no special footwear
    • Can work on flat surfaces and stairs
    • Provides biofeedback to brain, which will lead to improved learning.
    • Once device is set-up and adjusted by therapist device can go into training mode

HealthSouth Therapy Manager: Nicholas C. Rizas, PT certified in March 2008. For more information visit: www.walkaide.com
