Aquatics
Aquatic therapy combines the physical properties of water and the ultimate modality of exercise. The physical and psychological effects of exercising in water translate into a positive therapeutic outcome for the patient or athlete.
Basic Aquatics
Aquatics are designed to accommodate patients with acute postoperative back conditions, arthritis, total joint replacements and other diagnoses that benefit from less stressful exercise. The program increases endurance and general strength in a low-impact environment.
This program includes:
- Deep water traction
- Spine stabilization techniques
- Resistive training
- Group Treatment / Individual instruction
- Deep water conditioning with flotation device
- Warm water environment
Also progresses to:
- Neutral spine swimming
- Deep water conditioning
- Upper and lower extremity resistance training
- Cardiovascular conditioning
