Committed to Quality
Our success depends on the quality of care provided to each and every patient. Our expert team of physicians, nurses, therapists and hospital staff is committed to providing safe, quality and cost-effective care to all patients. We strive to help every patient maximize potential and exceed personal expectations.
Professionally Accredited
Our hospital complies with local, state and federal regulations as well as the accreditation standards of The Joint Commission, a leader in determining quality and safety standards for healthcare delivery.
Certification in Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Stroke Rehabilitation
In addition to Joint Commission accreditation, our pulmonary rehabilitation and stroke rehabilitation programs have earned Disease-Specific Care Certification from The Joint Commission.
Rehabilitation is crucial to the recovery process and can be the difference in patients living a lifetime with a disability versus regaining full independence. This Gold Seal of Approval® from The Joint Commission shows our hospital’s commitment to comply with the highest national standards for safety and quality of care for patients recovering from pulmonary conditions and stroke.

Patient and Family Advisory Council
In October 2010, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts established the Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) to strengthen the communication and partnerships between its patients, families, caregivers and staff so that the hospital can continue providing exceptional quality care.
The PFAC meets bi-monthly to address important issues with thoughtful collaboration and discussion in order to develop recommendations on how the hospital can improve the experiences of patients and their families. One of the major objectives of PFAC is to create patient and family centered care so that patients become active participants in their healthcare outcomes. Several areas being addressed include patient safety; the admission and discharge process; healthcare literacy; education; and patient satisfaction. An annual plan is completed that identifies achievements made in the preceding year and areas of focus for the upcoming year.
The PFAC meetings are currently co-chaired by the director of quality and risk management and a former patient of the hospital. HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts’ PFAC is always looking to recruit new members. After joining the council, a new member goes through an in-depth orientation.
The PFAC plan, policy and annual report are available publicly via electronic means by contacting Stan Konieczny, director of quality and risk management, at 413 589-7581, ext. 3206.
If you are interested in becoming a member or have questions about the PFAC, please contact Stan Konieczny at 413 589-7581, ext. 3206.
